So do I. New Inn at Gildersome is a good example. 'Ditto'I adore it tooThe New Inn is a good exampleIf we're stretching the boundaries a l-o-n-g way, there's 'The White House' at Ilkley (& a new build next door!!) on the way to Middleton Woods that are both 'Art-Deco'As seen on my 'www''White House'http://travel.webshots.com/photo/109655 ... zNhdLE'New Inn'http://travel.webshots.com/photo/129076 ... vBWThere's the big house on the Ring-Road, just to the west of Wetherby Roadhttp://travel.webshots.com/photo/1331211743047309372sToNWAOut of town, there's 'Chatalaine' at Castlefordhttp://travel.webshots.com/photo/1101105462047309372crhQbThttp://travel.webshots.com/photo/2705980320047309372sKnleAAnd a house at Glasshoughton (on the road to FerryBridge)http://travel.webshots.com/photo/114385 ... 9372rlVosM If we're going as far as Cas then there's a good example at the top of Batley Field Hill. It was up for sale by auction a few years ago and we looked around it. It was faithful to the thirties Art Deco style both inside and out.

Thanks everyone, must take more notice of the surroundings. The beauty of art deco to my mind is its simplicity, fairly basic shapes and colours but the end results are tremendous.Tracey Emin and Damien Hurst should look and learn and then getback in that unmade bed together and leave the art world to do what it has done well for donkeys yonks.

Anybody any idea why the "Ring Road Bramley" is to be found around the Coal Road - Wetherby Road area more or less as as far from Bramley as you can get on the Ring Rd. ?
We wanted to make Leeds a better place for the future - but we're losing it. The tide is going out beneath our feet.

Ring Road Bramley in Roundhay? It's got to be the work of the ghost of John H. who lived that end of Leeds.I occasionally worked with John in the 1950s/60s. We would often walk from one Leeds railway yard to another to our next job. John, one of three railway-employed brothers, although in working clothes had the air of a gentleman. Gently smiling, courtly and polite, drivers were always asking him for direction to particular destinations. "Certainly" he would always reply, and without fail, from wherever he was at the time, would describe in meticulous detail the quickest and most direct route to Castleford ................
