"It seemed to come from the Cross Green area. You could tell it was some distance away. I can only describe it sounding like a full skip been dropped on the floor from some height BOOM!Anyone else hear that?"Heard exactly what you describe in the Haddon Hall area for many years, usually later in the day when it was quieter and i think only when the wind was going the right way, was always told that was Kirkstall Forge, couldn;t say if it actually was or what they did there to generate it.Have a bad feeling i may also have heard this several times after the forge closed :~

Well i'm glad i'm not the only one to remember the big BOOM anyway.I lived at Boggart Hill Gardens (Just around the corner to Parksider i see) There was a great view over Leeds. The boom did seem to come from the Skelton grange/ Cross green area. It's something i've always remembered, but i seem to recall it most around 10-12 in the morning. Every hour or so! BOOM

I'm a Summer of love 1967 born baby.I moved away from Seacroft in 1988. But i spent all my boyhood years of the 70's around there. I was always in those fields, and around Asket Hill school playing

There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.
