For anyone who may be the slightest bit interested in Beings from Outer Space then a number of UFO sightings over the Leeds area from 1997-2009 are documented and available here:http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/Freed ... nTheUk.htm

Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Most seem to sound very much like "chinese lantern" sightings or the product of over active imaginations rather than UFO's. I especially liked this one " Black spherical object,12m diameter,500ft up and travelling at 500mph.Made no sound, had a light on but switched it off when witness shone a torch at it" So no special weapons needed to fend off alien attacks, just a torch will see em off!

I wish I had a £ for each mention of theword 'orange'in the 2009 report. The lantern business must be booming.

And these reports are published by the MOD! If they are taking reports such as "A UFO was seen and an alien was in the witness's house" seriously then perhaps we should be worried! I for one have replaced the batteries in my torch!

The makers of the show were trying to recreate the last fatal flight of the Red Baron during WWI. Despite knowing it was coming, an expert marksman was unable to hit a light aircraft flying at approx 1500ft at 120 mph with a tripod-mounted laser!(Ps Yes I know - it was too heavy to throw that far!)

I didn't realise they had lasers in WWI, let alone that they were using them to shoot down German Fokkers. PS - before anyone has a sense of humour failure / post deletion frenzy, I was referring to the Red Baron's aircraft: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manfred_von_Richthofen
