Personally I think this northern animosity, whilst a good bit of fun, is a southern invention along the lines of divide and conquer. It's nothing to do with the War of the Roses, as many Yorkshire men were fighting for the House of Lancaster.I would rather regard myself as a "Pennine" man, as my family has flitted from one side to the other as work required. Happy Yorkshire Day. Invented by the soon to be defunct Tetley's Brewery as a publicity stunt and it grows topsy. Went to Filey and rode horse on the beach with 11 others. Smashing day. Chosen as pointed out for KOYLI connections.

Well we even celebrate Yorkshire day out here - I had my Yorkshire Pub n Bisto ..... in the past my company has provided free Yorkshire puds to about 100 expats here (not all from Yorks, so was more 'spreading the word') and we had a slide show about Yorkshire and Yorkshire customs whilst they dined .... but financial things being as they are we gave it a miss this year!

The thought of that had me gipping too ...! I was surprised tho that my Thai partner actually wolfed down a Yorks Pud with gravy - I thought it would be too bland for the Thai palate but obviously EVERYBODY appreciates a good Yorkshire Pudding!!!
