in the fifties valley road in pudsey had a strip of tarmac in the middle of the road for motor vehicles with the cobbles left at both sides presumably for horses to get grip on the hill.
Also in Pudsey, didn't there used to be a strip of red cobbles (granite? bricks?) on the railway bridge on either Radcliffe Lane or New Street? (Can't remember which.)
There is a short cobbled cul-de-sac coming off New Briggate opposite the Grand Theatre. The road sign even calls it New Briggate but also with a few premises numbers on the sign.
A rainbow is a ribbon that Nature puts on when she washes her hair.
A nice patch of cobbles has appeared outside ITV Yorkshire on Kirkstall Road where they are digging up the grass verges for the new bus lanes. Could this be a remnant of an 'Alphabet Street' or am I in the wrong area?

Small world, my Grandad lived there too!I've heard it said that one of the reasons that cobbles were replaced with tarmac is because cobblestones could be used as ammo by rioting rebelious anti establishment types.
