This is for anyone that may be contemplating a day-out to this lovely town on the 30th, especially if you're intending a visit to the Lido, & a walk around Middleton Woods. The Ilkley Harriers are promoting their 'Trail-Race' in the late morning (starting @ 11:30)http://www.ilkleyharriers.org.uk/index.php?page=trailBe also aware that due to the runners, the parking on that side of the river may be at a premium - the results show 380 runners last year!!!If you're there, & see me, give me a wave... I'll be number 42Wearing the Club-shirt shown in the link belowhttp://www.flamingphotography.co.uk/imgs/galle ... 13590.jpeg

Well you beat me. I did 63 mins, compared to the 56 mins I did the other year. Enjoyed it,a bit breezy on the moor.Had a few beers afterwards in Ilkley and Otley.

So long as you enjoyed it, & I agree it was a fair old breeze on the tops.As stated earlier, I ended up in the 'Wharfe-View Cafe' for Pie & chips, before heading back home to Wakefield

There's some pics on the 'Trail-Race' page ('Woodentops' link), including an 'Abbey Runners' group (I see who I presume is you down as one of their members) On an architectural side;1. I was very pleased to be able to have a decent look at 'The White House' before the race whilst warming up/recce-ing Curley Hill & the entrance into Middleton WoodsWhat a beautiful building it is, even if seemingly at odds with the others around itAnd....... there's another 'Art-Deco'/'British Moderne' house under construction next doorI was talking to the lady marshall on the 'Woods gate' whilst warming up, & she was quite proud of 'The White House' as a unique building in Ilkley (I don't know enough to say whether there's another one in the town)I remember it being for sale (in April 2003) & it was on offer at £895,000!! (I've still got the brochure in a drawer somewhere) 2. On entering Otley, I noticed the 'blue-brick' houses in Guycroft, but forgot to take a camera with me.So, that's a reason to head back to Otley, mid-summer, sooner rather than later (& continue to Ilkley to see if the new 'Deco' house is finishedhttp://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messages.aspx ... ighLight=1
