Shame this application doesn't make provission to amalgamate threads easily, there are others about the market - would be nice to have them all together rather than fragmented - much easier for folk to find things

if i'm not mistaken, isn't there a section of the balcony that you can get onto from the office building that's joined on to it? I'm sure i recall going to see Shaw Trust there a few years ago, and the toilet was out the back of that section of the building and along the balcony?

My only recollection (pre market fire) of going upstairs in the markets was to a little cafe, on the left by the side of a newsagent as you come in the Vicar Lane / George St. entrance. I think it was a Birkbeck's cafe, one of two in the markets. Sound right?

There was a cafe upstairs in the market called 'Kandies'. That was in 1986 when I went to the balcony and took a photo all those years ago. It may have been closed then

PurpleZYes, it appeared just after mine! Same shot, but a little later. I seem to think the cafe was closed when I took the picture in 1986, but I could be wrong!
