leodis pic of the Eagle in 1962 - Sam Smith's at that time. The little shop to the right of the bay window was a Tailor's shop at this time - if you compare with the 2007 pic you can see the alteration to the building and it is now part of the pub.

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

I used to go to the Eagle a lot in the early 90s - they used to have good live bands on, and with the New Roscoe and the Regent it made up quite a decent little pub rock scene.Les Moon was the landlord then, a top bloke who used to have the Duck and Drake before that, if I remember rightly (the Duck was a good music pub then too).Anyone know what happened to Les after the Eagle?

The Three Hulats on Harrogate Road. This used to be called the Mexboruogh Arms, I understand a 'Hulat' means 'Owlet' and their are 3 of these on the coat-of-arms of the Mexborough family.A pub with a fascinating history.Sorry cant post the pic - the uploading systemsays its too big - it isn't but there's no reasoning with it!!!I'll put it on flickr

I think I've got one of those cards somewhere.I just need it stamping in the Precinct,The Black Lion,The King Charles and the Market Tavern...
