As you know there are a number of Ex. LCT tramway columns installed in the car park, adjacent to Princes Ave.I have noticed that two of the large horizontal arms have dropped from the horizontal position. On a closer inspection it appears that on one of them... (the column nearest to where the ice cream van parks) the fixing bracket has cracked and the welded joint has failed. Can be seen here: http://snipurl.com/vz8dmI have reported this to the appropriate dept.

I hope they try and repair them as opposed to the health&safety brigade pulling the lot down

Good work Brunel. well spotted. They could cause a serious accident as they are. I just hope the Council fix them, instead of the easy method i fear they might choose. Pull the things down instead

Yep......I have been informed by the most knowledgeable "Tramway Mel."that these were erected to provide lighting for the buses , used to transport the masses at the military tattoo circa 1954.The present car park was used a bus park, and to quote. When the car park was used as bus station buses picked up either side of the fenced bus stands, which needed lighting on either side hence the long arm spans. So these were not Ex. tramway poles. Now need pictures.

Elsewhere we did estabblish that the area was never used by trams however, the info was that the tramway poles were ideally suited to and used for the very purpose you state so, perhaps they were, even if they were not - if you follow.....
