I think i am right in saying it is illegal to cycle on the canal towpath unless you have payed a fee to do so this is what i was told by a lock keeper a few years ago.
No matter were i end my days im an Hunslet lad with Hunslet ways.

Technically you should have a permit, but they can be downloaded from the internoddle and printed for free.
