I remember Austin Mitchell having a "mobile"phone when he was a presenter on Calender back in the late 60s/early 70s.

May have been a radio phone, but not a cell phone, they first came available in the UK in 1984. Vodophone and BT Cellnet. I've had one since 1987, although the first one I had couldn't really be called mobile, it weighed as much as a brick.

If like Eric, Ernie had changed his name to that of his home town they could have been Morecambe and Morley, or Morley and Morecambe.
