Maybe one or more of the arches were used for storage and the bridge was used for access.

Or possibly access through the arch to the canal side? Will need to have a closer look!

Notice another missing bridge-- the railway siding access to the corporation yard, near the eastern border of the map.

There's another thread about that. http://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messag ... ghLight=1I got very cold and wet getting a picture of the abutment. i didn't fall in the river but there was a lot of sleet flying around.;-D

I'd walked doen the canal towpath many times and noticed how flat the river bank was at this point. I presumed it was due to engineering the canal but it wasn't until I started spending too much time here that i found out there was a railway down there!
