Pubs closing NOW- in our time.

good to see the Duck & Drake is now getting back to its old self with the Sunday tea-time bands and beer that is actually fresh and drinkable.A lot of its regulars deserted for the Templar, a great traditional pub.I now watch the Fri/Sat night rugby league in there whilst taking in the occasional band in the D& D

Driving through Otley this lunchtime I was amazed to see that the Black Horse is open again and appears to be advertising food. In view of the size of the place I had feared that it was closed for ever.After a very slow start, to say the least, Wetherspoons now seem to be forging ahead with the Bowling Green at some pace so maybe the seemingly optimistic opening date of April 10th will be achieved after all.

I miss the Thursday night quiz in there! The Woolpack is still for sale (freehold) by Enterprise, so it's doubtful it will ever re-open as a pub IMO. The new bar in the former Curlew Cafe is due to open soon - I've never seen so much building work go on in such a small place.

The Kiln off Stoney Rock Lane has been closed more than openover the past few months.Flyer in the local shops saying reopening afternoonof the 19th(tomorrow)Will be run by'Vicky and Kerry'- £1.50 all pints overthe weekend.Will have to keep some of the 'locals'out to succeed.

The Slip Inn,East End Park,has closed,no great loss there though. The nearby Shepherd looks like it could do with closing.Not a decent pub in East End Park anymore,well,apart from the Spring Close if that is still open'Still its only 15 mins walk into town.

Are you sure about the Fleece Si? there didn't seem much sign of life when I drove past last saturday. Do you know whats happening at the Spite?

Hi Drapesy. The Fleece had re-opened. Perhaps it's shut again? I'll have a look next time I go up Westgate. I was last in the Spite five or six weeks ago. A Scottish bloke was running it. I don't get up there very often, but he was asking which beers he should get in.

Oh dear !!Opening night at The Kiln.Not the best of ideas.Arrived 2210 hrs,left 2235 - just as it all kicked off.Fighting in lumps - usual suspects.In true News of he World reporters tradition - I made my excuses and left !

Not sure if already mentioned but I notice The Highland has closed down. Been struggling for a while and couldnt compete with student shop which was basically giving alcohol away. It was a very odd pub but still I rated it as the best pint of Tetleys in Leeds. The landlord reckoned the secret was due to an underground stream which kept the cellar at the correct temperature.
