Does anyone remember Moor Allerton Hall on Lidgett Lane? My grandmother was born there in about 1908. Her parents both worked there, and lived in the gate house. Does anyone know how i would be able to find any old records re staff at that time?

It would be worth checking out the West Yorkshire Archive service, see if they have anything.http://www.archives.wyjs.org.uk/

Hi. .I am wondering if someone can help me please.I am going to do my family tree and want to have access to some of the pay monthly archive sites that are available. Can anyone tell me which one is the best to use?.I have no idea what I am doing yet and feel kinda nervous in a way.My mother was an orphan in Mount St Marys from 1939 so I know absolutely nothing about her past and family although I recently got a marriage certificate of her mother and father(says her mother lived on Temple View ,Leeds.) Does anyone know where that was please? So my mothers parents wereGeorge William Kirby aged 23Annie Hunsworth aged 23 Married seventh of April, at Mount St Marys 1928Not sure what to do next . . .

Hi Keyholekate, I use Ancestry for doing my main tree, i tend to find my way around easier, and i find they have a good collection of records, although i pay sub to Find my Past for the 1911 census, - that is untill Ancestry finally put it on theres. and i use Genes Reunited to just to gedcom my tree over and to look at other peoples tree's. that way i am able to cover all angles. i also use other free sites to cross referance records ie Births marriages and Deaths. With Ancestry you can look at people's tree if they are public, although dont just copy people's bits into yours unless you are 100% certain its the correct info- so many assumptions, as regards to Genes you need to be a subscriber to the minimum account to actually ask people to open there treee for you. i can not give you any info on Find My Past as i just use it soley for the 1911 census. This is just my opinion others may be able to give you there's Weenie

i have looked on 1911 for the parents :George William Kirby Born 1905 Leeds with Sister Alice Kirby born 1907 DublinParents George Kirby and Agnes Kirby married 8 years living at 11 Bellmont Street LeedsGeorge Kirby was born 1876 and was a carter born Hull, YorkshireAgnes Kirby was born 1880 Dublin Ireland and is a clothing finisherthis certainly seems to match with your marriage cert of George William Kirby. There is also a Marriage in Leeds Dec 1902 George Kirby Agnes Carney Vol 9b page 948in the 1881 Census there is a George Kirby living at 13 Corperation street, Leeds with parents George and Eliza and siblings Ada 3 years and Albert 1 years. i am struggling to find anything apart from the marriage entry for Annie Hunsworth, does it tell you who her father was on the marriage cert? i dont know where Temple view is, but i know my sister lives on Temple Lane which is just nr Temple Newsome, but i can not find Temple View nr there. Weenie Oh Weenie THANK YOU! I never expected you to do this! I cant stop reading the details.I know that Temple View is not Temple Newsam as I have looked and my brother lives on Temple Avenue so no idea where this Temple View is.The marriage certificate for George William Kirby and Annie Hunsworth (my mothers parents) state Annies father as Alfred Hunsworth ,Coal miner. The marriage was "in the presence of Alice Kirby". . .AMAZING. . .THANK YOU Weenie and I really dont expect you to do any legwork. How Fascinating!
