Bridge Buttresses on Old Pool Bank Road/Leeds Road

Has anyone noticed the two bridge buttresses on Leeds Road where Old Pool Bank crosses (400m west of the Dyneley Arms), obviously there must have been a bridge at one time, but I would say its too high up Pool Bank to be a railway siding, could it be a road bridge connecting quarries? has anyone got a map or a photo of the bridge

Hi Muddy Landie,Yes, there was a bridge there, and it was a rail track which serviced the stone quarry at the top of the Chevin. I think it's been mentioned on here before by Phill-d (possibly?), who's the expert in these matters. I think it's shown on one of the maps on the Tithe Map thread, if you can find it.

Can I own up to always noticing the two metal railway bridge walls on Pool Bank and always noticing the two stone abutments mentioned here on the otley-leeds (one time) toll road, and thinking - without thinking - that the latter was a continuation of the former.And it isn't so that is interesting.Anything left of Pool Station before i go have a look??The incline up to the quarry may have been steep??

I've trawled Leodis and Googled it, but no luck. The picture must be in a book.Blakey may know more about this bridge. He must have driven his bus under it thousands of times!
