IIRC there was controversey about the cost of the escalators up from Boar Lane, £500k comes to mind. Knock a nought off and you wont be far out,"The Bond Street Centre"was a 6 million pound contract, the escalator at the time was said to be the biggest in England,it was imported from Germany and was fitted by German fitters.

Which has to beg the question of why an official professional surveyor should even mute the possibility?

Sure, if you forget some of the one already in place for many, many years on London Underground.

The plan in the University library is the "Chamberlain plan".The intention was to link the new developements at the university with the city centre. The main level of the physics /admin building is "Red Route" and was level 11 in the plan.Level 0 was city square and all the walkways in that area were intended to link together and link to the university and the hospital.

I've learnt on here to keep an open mind and found that however convinced one is about something, very often in the fullness of time, someone appears with auditable evidence to show differently - you never know
