There is a piece on the BBC Leeds website about a new council owned park at Oulton, on a reclaimed former colliery site:http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/leeds/hi/pe ... 177.stmHas anyone been? If so, whats it like? There is only very limited info on the council website (a search using the site search facility on www.leeds.gov.uk returns nothing of note - poor do there, councillors). The BBC site provides a link to http://www.leeds.gov.uk/fol/fol_34.html which doesn't really do much to promote the place. It looks like it might be a good place to take the dog for a walk as it's not too far away, unless it suffers the same fate as Temple Newsam most weekends in having far too many dogs off their leads and out of control (or owners nowhere to be seen).

We took a chance and visited there this morning. Despite grotty weather (gloomy, overcast and a constant threat of rain) Water Haigh Woodland Park looks to have it's attractions.Don't be put off by the approach road (Fleet Lane) though, which appears decidedly grim, especially the last section of it. Once parked up and out of the car the area is very nice and in nicer weather I'm sure we could have spent a good chunk of the day there. The relatively young woodland looks well thought out and the paths are generally good, even allowing for the rain.Sadly, despite the recent works and laying of new footpaths, there are no dog poop bins - surely a massive oversight given the likely users of the park? That said, everyone we saw did seem to be clearing up after their hounds, so lets hope that continues.I took a photo of the info board which shows the car parks - we went right up to the last one which has a choice of three different walks to go on.The few pics I took (between showers) are here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/8964340@N0 ... 0435436/As always with flickr the link won't format so you'll need to cut and paste it into your browser.

Davey, go into flickr, profile, edit and after a few navigations around, you will find - if you look hard - a place to personalise your id. You can get rid of that 'orrible @.... and put int Raveydavey or dog poop scooper ( ) or whatever you like, save and there you go , everyone knows it's you - and the link works when you post on here!
