I posted this thread or similar last week but it seems to have gotten Lost in transit!Try agen!Three more cinemas come to mind from the 30's/40's/50's;The Wellington at the Wellington Road end of Kirkstall Rd. I think there was a pub of the same name closeby. And the Imperial (I know there were others of this name in other areas). which used to show mainly 'Gainsborough'Films who's logowas a smiling, masked, crinolined lady!) The cinema itself was on Kirkstall Road, same side as Paul's Tannery,Hess's Oil works and Yorkshire Dyeworks& Chemicals! Nearly forgot the RSPCA,dogs' home alongside! (that moved to Cavendish St. and finally up York Road). There was a lovely 'aroma' both outside and inside the cinema!During the war, Mum took me to the 'IMPY' to see a double billof Todd Slaughter (Sweeny Todd and Maria Marten), that was the first house,so we then caught the tram along to the Embassy for their 2nd house! Can't remember what was on. Maybe 'Anthony Adverse' starring Anna Neagel! On Briggate,I can remember the 'RIALTO' where Marks and Sparks is now!Hope it gets thru this time. ( it helps to press the right 'Post' buttonI suppose!Arry Awk

Mum used to treat herself to a slipper bath every week (when she could afford it) because our bathroom was a tin bath in front of the fire, those were the Days !!Is the baths still there? That could be the start of another thread-Leeds lost swimming pools!

There used to be two giant advertising boards at each side of the entrance showing a wrestler. In the 80's it was bingo, the West End was a tiny pub then and used to fill up rapidly after the last 'house'.
