Known to many folk club attendees, and I played with him on many occasions, in the 60's forming formidable partnerships with the likes of Roger Knowles, Bob Pegg and Brian Golbey Nick was an excellent guitarist and mandolin player as well as having a great harmony voice. It is no secret that Nick had a lifelong battle with alcohol and when I got sober in the early 90's I tried desperately to help him but he never got it. It is so sad. He passed away in Norfolk but I am sure that there will be something organised by his friends to pay tribute to his considerable contribution to folk and bluegrass music maybe at the Grove. If I hear of anything I will post information

Only just read this thread and sad to learn of Nick's passing. I knew Nick in the great days of the Folk Club scene of the 60's and 70's where he performed so often and so well. I played washboard with the JBW Jug Band (John Wall, Jon Rennard, Jim Peers) and Count Orlando's Spasm Circus when Bob Clark replaced Jon Rennard who tragically died so young.Mark Peers
