Stewart Walton is a very talented artist who I used to work with in the Display Studio at Lewis's on the Headrow in the late 60's. He was producing at that time acrylics on canvas depicting old streets of Leeds mainly Holbeck, Armley, Beeston and Hunslet. Due to inner city re generation they were demolishing properties in these areas faster that Stewart could paint them so we got together to do some photo shoots. I took colour reversal pictures that Stewart was able to copy and between us we were able to make a considerable record. Sadly I have misplaced the slides and I don't see Stewart in Leeds anymore. I have seen some of his work displayed in, I think either St James or Chapel Allerton Hospital. The painting were a really good record of parts of the city then and I wondered if anyone has a recollection of seeing any?

He did charcoal sketches and acrylics on hessian quite crudely knocked up over lunch times from two by one. Most of his work would be dated late 60's early 70's when he was gaining some recognition. His main work and interest was in abstract art

Thank you. Sadly Stewart was rather fond of gambling. Too much in fact and so much so that he was never able to enjoy the fruits of his considerable talents. We were very good friends but the last time I bumped into him he was coming out of Gadsby's on New Briggate about 15 years ago and me still then lived in Middleton
