I go past the closed barbers on Boar Lane next to the Admiral Duncan pub every day on the bus.I was wondering this morning how long it is since it was last open?I reckon it must be at least 20 years!you can still see the old basins in there through the grimy windows.

There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.

Its certainly been closed for a very long time and I wouldn't like to hazard a guess as to how many years. One thing's for sure though - that stretch of pavement from The Calls to Lower Briggate must be one of the most disreputable in Leeds. After walking past Frank's you then encounter the menacing gloom within The Duncan and groups of folks smoking outside the pub and the bookie's next door and, if you're despeartae enough to need a bus, you have to queue while tangled up with that lot !!
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I agree Blakey that this area is dodgy looking and the Duncan crowd do nothing for the area.Ironically though the drinkers at the Duncan have probably saved it from being redeveloped as no pub chain wants them in or to have to try and dissuade them if they try to go upmarket!still no post on the year of closing though. It was a going concern in the 1970's but I think it shut around 1980?
