Reference my last message:Just found out Banks & Stead first commenced business at Fleece Lane-Meadow Lane in 1864. The firm started as Adams, Banks & Co with partners Robert Adams, Kirby Banks, William Stead and William Goodison. Robert Adams left the firm in 1865 and William Goodison in 1866. Kirby Banks Screw Co. Ltd went into voluntary liquidation in 1932. Hope this is of some help.

Hi Oldkirby. There are some old photos and maps on here of the Fleece Lane/Meadow Lane junction area, somewhere (possibly lost pubs thread.) There may be some with the factory in the background. They were found originally on Leodis, so if you have no luck with the SL search facility, try there. PS Just had a quick search. Most of the pics and maps are on the "Fleece Inn Hotel" thread in the public houses section. Cheers,Si.
