That sounds good dogduke, on both counts - Credit Unions have proven themselves to be very worthwhile and no shareholders to consider paying either

There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.

I joined Compton library with great trepidation aged about 9- filled in the forms , paid a token amount of about 3d and got my single cardboard library ticket ( another thing you don't see anymore). I could hardly see over the tall counter to talk to the lady librarians, who, like teachers, commanded a lot of respect in those far off days. The library was an forbidding place but I loved reading my borrowed book each week. The series which got me hooked on reading for pleasure were the Kemlo books about a group of kids who were born on a space station and were physically adapted to low g so that they were too weak to ever return to Earth. The library had a rather gruesome exhibition for a few months. The exhibits I remember were a shrunken head from Borneo, a poison dart blowpipe, and incredibly, only 14 years after the concentration camps were liberated, a lamp with a shade made by the Nazis from the human skin of a holocaust victim.
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!
