North Lane. Was a pet shop and now health food? IIRC the pet shop closed when the 'sauna' next door was burnt out.

I'm going to report it to Duncan but if you need a hand you can mail me the photo, or point to where it is elsewhere. Old problem simon if you look back and, apparantly trying to find a fix resultaed in last weekend's partial outage!

This building is now a private dental practice but in my childhood it was a Wallace Arnold booking office,as indicated in the sign at the bottom left of the window frame.

A once familiar brewery sign.'Whitbread Ales'. Not a favourite among real ale devotees.I spotted this one in Garforth.

There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Cheers Blakey! I've seen photos of the area on Leodis showing coaches parked on the street but it's before my time...

Thanks for that fascinating tip stevief - the picture you mention is most interesting to me. I must say though that, even for the hard times of 1947, the three vehicles in the photo are a sorry looking trio of dismal old crates !! Having worked for Wallacr Arnold, thereby being involved with "Hudsons Coaches", and having lived more recently across the road in Argie Terrace I find this view especially relevant.
