Memorable Snowy Winters in Leeds

Yes it is listed but I agree with you that it was the last truly great winter for those who were old enough to experience it and the right age to enjoy it at the time. You also confirm my recollection that the schools stayed open and the buses kept running.

You also confirm my recollection that the schools stayed open and the buses kept running. Except for the West Riding's Wulfrunians whose air powered suspension systems tended to freeze up. I also remember a pub in Wakefield notorious for watering the beer where it actually froze in the pipes.

Living in Morley (above the snow line) I always used to marvel that after a day or so whilst it would still be lying in Morley, there was no trace in the city centre.I worked in Cas for ten years from 1981 to 1991 and there were some fairly snowy winters in that time especially 1981. But we never got the worst in Cas and surrounding area - the reason? - The heat generated by Ferrybridge Power station used to keep the snow away.
