Ardsley's postcode may be WF but it's been part of Morley (and therefore now part of Leeds) for about 75 years. Anyway his first performances were around the clubs of Morley and on the stage of the Pavilion when it was a proper theatre. And it's outside the Pavilion where the statue will be.

I agree with David Mitchell's comment in the Grauniad. A statue of the two of them should have been cast. After all, they were a DOUBLE act! I know it's an obvious thing to say, but whenever I see the Morecambe statue, something's missing! If their respective home towns must claim them as their own, they should each have a statue of the pair of them. It's like siblings being given one each of a matching pair of Ming vases in a will- splitting them far reduces their value!
