I've scoured Leodis with no luck. Unless anyone know of any in the Central library.

GeeWhittham, I've been researching an accident on the river Ouse in 1833, and it's interesting how every single member of the jury there was related to one or other of the accident victims, down to and including th man who probably caused the accident. Also, two of the witnesses were direct contemporaries of eachother from a tiny village over the river and can't NOT have known eachother well. Yet this wasn't even mentioned in passing at the inquest... In fact in 19thC trials, it was often thought a positive advantage for jurors to know the people involved, which is shocking to our modern sensibilities!

Hiya Si, sorry I've only just seen this. I am now exiled to Rugeley. William Palmer is pretty much brushed aside in this little town. His old house was knocked down, even though the ones on either side were left. His local boozer, The Talbot Arms, changed it's name to The Shrew. His grave is in the local churchyard opposite his parents old home, that's still there. There is a pretty good film about william Palmer, starring Keith Allen as Dr Palmer, if you can find a copy. Apart from that nobody really talks about him. I suppose he was sort of the Yorkshire Ripper of his day.
