Mind you both might be basket cases for all I know. I see that ATC are developing the "the former cinema car park site" on Cottage Road. I bet that's a boost to the cinema's bsuiness. That car park has been closed for many , many years

Yes, strange behaviour for people running a cinema. IIRC there was some legal dispute, ATC gated their own carpark or something to do with change of use/ownership, can anybody clarify?

This is from 1970 - the cinema closed in 1965 - bingo for many years. I remember it standing empty for many years although one of the 2 shops to either side remained open as a womens hairdresser's. All demolished now of course.

I thik one was a cafe and the other a ladies' hairdresser. Wasn't the front built of rather impressive stone ??

Palace Cinema Rothwell, view from the Church Tower. The cinema became a warehouse and has been recently demolished to make way for a new Morrisons Supermarket due to open in Jan 2009.
