Many people do Brandy and very nice they look too, defeatist in a perverse sort of way though - Glendale get less work to do for the same money and people (and Council inspectors) who don't know the truth look at these verges and think what a wonderful job Glendale are doing, they win both ways round!

Get on the backs of your local councilors who WILL take it up, if their any good. No point speaking to the council offices, the calls get choked in the system. Make an appointment with your councilors surgery and keep onto them!!

Been on holiday for a week and Glendale have sneaked round and cut the grass again!! The chap I last spoke to(from glendale) said he was going to inspect the work when it was next done.I have to admit (although I'm seeing it through jet lagged eyes) it does look slightly better than last time, probably because it's not been left as long but there is still major room for improvement.

Si wrote: This is the damage the grass cutters did to my great grandparents' grave in New Wortley cemetery. I have just had a meeting at Guiseley cemetary with two men from the cemetries dept. and my local councillor regarding the damage that has been done to graves in Yeadon and Guiseley cemetaries by grasscutting machines leaving them in a similar state to the one shown in Si's photo.I had photos taken while the grasscutters were in action which showed the mess they are making of the place with all the grass churned up and mud all over the paths,so they had to agree that it was in an appaling state. As a result they are going to repair the damaged graves and take steps to make sure that the men who cut the grass treat the place with more respect.

With the best will in the world, sitting in an office does not compare with seeing for yourself - get the administrators and managers out more often to see the things that are happening and the results of inaction, use you Council Representatives to make your point, and we might se a lot more than grasscutting impsorve. As for eneuring respect, maybe issuing a few P45s will bring the message home!

About 10 years ago I worked for Parks and countryside or Redhall as it was called then. Each man had an area to cut this usually took about 4 to 6 weeks and then you started again meaning the grass was cut about 6 times a season. When it was wet we did other duties like schools, roundabouts and the like. Yes the machinery was a little antiquated but it did its job and we were well supervised as well, no [edited for content] jobs or you had to return and do it right. Now I work next door to one of this mobs depots and I stood and watched 2 managers training a bunch of social retards one morning on how to use a centre deck machine ( cutting blade under the middle of the machine) They talked so much [edited for content] I actually burst out laughing. My father in law has worked for Parks for near on 30 years and knows the job backwards so he decided to have a laugh and go for an interview with this mob. As soon as they heard his qualifications the offered him the job, What's the pay then says he, don't know what the reply was but he told them to do one as it was what he had been earning when he first started with the council. Mind you with the council its nepotism rules if you want a job.

had a letter this morning from council, regarding a phone call i made 12/8/08! they apologise an oversight on their part, does happen.glendales contract is to carry out a pre cut scavenge to remove litter ,cans, bottles ect,and avoid incidents of shredded littercut the grass to 50mm (2 inch)back up teamto strim around steet furniture and edges, then blow grass arisings(posh name for cuttings) off the public footpath back on to the grass verge.this is for health and safty reasons,to avoid slip hazzards.there is no provision to collect cuttings.but the good thing is ,if im dissatisfied i can take my complaint to stage 2of the councils complaints procedure within 28 days.i even got a name and the address to write to.then it goes to stage one.well im not happy,im sick of the mess,im bored of badley trained workmen who dont give a toss what the work looks like.they dont do anything in their contrack, aparty from make a mess.this started when they covered the car in grass, i told my partner im at war with them, and i will not give up until the job is done correct.

Me an all Bramley13! I've got the name and number of the supervisor from Glendale who I spoke to a couple of weeks back and I'll be in his ribs at every verse end until things improve.
