Hello again BoffleyI think ive found John Thomas kirby in the 1861 census, and hes not from Weighton, but WEETON,near Harewood. He appears in the 1861 census in ,Leeds South,3370/55,7 John Yard, living with a brother, his remarried mother, step father and half siblings:-Aaron Raine,Head,Marr, aged 40,Gas Maker ,born BurnistonAnn Raine ,wife ,Marr, aged 47 ,born RawcliffeMark Wm Parkinson KIRBY,step son, aged 17,Grinder at Iron Foundry ,born LeedsJohn Thomas KIRBY ,step son, aged 15,Puddler at Iron Forge, born WeetonThen half siblings:-Sarah Elizabeth RAINE,dtr, aged 13 ,born RiponJohn Aaron RAINE ,son, aged 8 ,born NorthallertonMary Jane RAINE ,dtr ,aged 6 ,born LeedsNancy Ruth RAINE ,dtr, aged 4 ,born Leeds. This family group appear in the 1851 census at Appleton Wiske,2377/40.There is another sibling for John Thomas,Elena Kirby aged 12,born Burtney ?Lancs. In the 1851 census John Thomas is referred to as just Thomas, his brother referred to as William and his half sister Sarah Elizabeth as just Elizabeth.Ordering the birth certificate of Mark William Parkinson Kirby registered Leeds (Southeast Leeds) in 1843 from the Leeds registry office will give you the name of his and therefore John Thomas'father and the mothers maiden name (which i suspect could be Parkinson)

I have hit a brick wall with my family history and it's doing my head in! My GG Grandfather Moses Wilkinson Mann born Leeds North in 1852 shows up on all the relevant cencuses up to 1901 living in the Burmantofts area(he died in1910) except the 1871,I'm now wondering if he may have been in the army at this time or even worse in prison? Can anyone shed any light on how I could find out,and fill in the gap.I would be most grateful for any help on this.
