Wheew! nobboddy spotted me dilib(?) mistook, last neet!Ah ment ILKLEE Not OTLEE! for the chippy that uses Vegieoil! Down Bridge st. opposite the church.Aye,Kierentc. We need to install a few spelling and grammarforums on S/Leeds! Expecially the differences btwn There.Their, and They're! (another shudder) Musta bin some rubbish teachersafter the 1950's!We had a few explanations in the slang and dialect forumsome time ago regarding the use of the Leeds 'The' and 'T.The 't is NEVER pronounced and the only indication of 'THE'is produced as; In<h>house, To<h>pictures, Round<h>corneretc. Also, Pu<h>sey,Bra<h>ford. The <h> is produced as avery subdued glottal stop, and is almost non-existent! (try saying those I've mentioned,<ignore the parentheses>andyou'll see, ONLY if brought up in Leeds. Mebbe east of Bra<h>ford!)'D'pronounced same as 't , in those cases! So think on! We Loiners can spot an 'out of towner' (could say'Oft cummed un' but that's not really us!)Thanks for the list of (mainly) Leeds tru-isms,Very well thoughtout. Cheers arry

We wanted to make Leeds a better place for the future - but we're losing it. The tide is going out beneath our feet.

You think Harry Ramsdens is expensive and a rip off and that Seafarer, Skyliner, Brians, Mermaid, Wetherby Whaler or Coes are much better The Mermaid's a bloody ripoff too. £22 for two haddock and chips and a couple of scabby supermarket desserts?! Quote: 40. Your fish and chips are cooked in lard! Beef dripping, dammit.
