Hello, anyone remember a pub in Yeadon called Images? Only ever went in there once when i was a teenager. Remember it well though as it was full to the brim of ladies.

Yeah. I think it was Image - without the S. It was originally a 1930s pub called The Peacock. It was demolished late 80s/early 90s and is now a cul-de-sac called Peacock Close or something similar.

Outside it has a statue of a large breasted very colourful lady & it always reminded me of the sea (not sure why). Havent got a clue what it was called.Does my description ring any bells?

Hi, new to this site. Have thoroughly enjoyed reading & viewing all the pages re: Lost pubs. My Gt grandfather was landlord of The Skew Bridge in Holbeck & then The Royal Sovereign in Kirkstall, both long gone, so it was with many thanks that I was able to get some pictures for the family history file. I wonder if any of you experts can help me, I am looking for info/pictures of a lost pub called "The North Tavern" on North street. Some of my relatives lived there pre-WW2. I am not sure exactly where it was but I believe it was no' 106. I know it was within sprinting distance of the then Dispensary on North lane as my Gt aunt was rushed there as a toddler having fallen & gashed her face on a glass. Have Leodis but am still new to research!! Keep up the good work!

HiI am knew to Secret Leeds and think the website is excellent with really interesting threads. Reading through the Lost Pubs there seems to be a wealth of information. I am a part time student and currently writing a dissertation based on a Social History of Leeds Public Houses. Basicly I want to reflect how important a local pub was to the local community. Generally I am interested from 1900 onwards East Leeds (The Bank/Hunslet) and town centre Victorian pubs such Whitelocks/Jubilee/Victoria etc. I would like info on Leeds pub Architects on pub design such as Burmontofts Tiles. Other useful info would be:Leeds Victorian/Edwardian Public Houses Public House Entertainment including Music HallLeeds Public House Architecture/Archictects - (Interior Design)Crime stats involving Public HousesDeeds for PubsInformation on Landlords/CustomersLeeds Breweries (Tetley/Melbourne/Hemingway)Public House LegislationCommunities and the Public House (ie Irish community/The Bank)Any relevant info would be much appreciated. (My e mail address is sam.jess@ntlworld.com) Thanks for such an interesting site on Leeds.

Was - it's been closed for about three months - in very mysterious circumstances too. I drove past a couple of weeks ago and it seemed to be open again! I was in the Needless last night and it is indeed open - but it was a case of spot the customer - and at the prices they were charging for a pint of Landlord and half of Strongbow I'm not surprised the customers were sparse - I'm not surprised there was a Bentley in the car park either
