Now here is a co-incidence. I was talking to my dad today and he mentioned "The Regent" just behind the Irish Centre. He went on to say it was often referred to as "The Slipp Inn" and my parents were regulars there in the late 60's and early 70's!How spooky is that????

Oh dear - sorry I dropped a bit of a whatsit a few posts back!!! I won't edit the original post so my shame is there for all to see!!I can only apologise and say I was thinking of somewhere else!!Anyhoo, as has been pointed out the'Slip Inn' still exists - and here's a pic to prove it. It's former nickname is now its official name - 'New Regent' having been dropped.

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

I have spent far too long reading all these threads about the Leeds I remember so well. I went to The Slip Inn around 1967. I was on a motorcycle (BSA 250) and so was my friend, although I can not remember if it was a biker pub in those days. Later in life I used to do the Tetley circuit which included The Waterloo, The Black Dog, Spring Close and Hampton. In fact my Aunt was the landlady at the Hampton in the 1930's. It was interesting to see that The Irish Centre was mentioned. I was a regular there around 1970, as it was the home of The Memphis Folk Club which met once or twice a week.I seem to remember a pub called The Prospect out that way as well. Not on the Tetley run that we did though. I seem to remember that it did dancing/music and was a 'bit lively'!!Thanks to those who have posted pictures and especially those of The Slip as it has really brought back some excellent memories.Cheers

I know this as i live on the North side of Leeds going to work over the old Green Bridge (whatever happened to that as i believe that was listed?) into Hunslet. Now this has been dug up again for the introduction of a overpass that seems to back up on itself going down Pontefract Lane.
