What about that little bit of windy, cobbled road that runs down to Burley Road? Is it Vinery Road, or summat?

A surprising amount of the city centre is still "cobbled", just most of them are covered under a layer of tarmac.Next time you're passing roadworks have a look, you may well see them hiding!

Noticed coming back from the rugby on Saturday,Stanmore View, off St.Michaels Lane is cobbled. The next street up,Stanmore Avenue, was until fairly recently a dirt road.

A bit off topic but Halifax is the place for cobbled roads - not strictly streets - I was amazed last Saturday.

Vicarage Place & Street in Headingley were actually resurfaced about 18 months ago using Setts (cobbles) because it is a Conservation area. The Footpaths are paved with Yorkshire Stone flags, unfortunately they are repeatedly stolen because of the high price they fetch down south.                                            Anyone who sees any person taking up York stone flags should should take down vehicle registration numbers (discreetly) and report it to the police ASAP                                            It is very rare that LCC Highways take up flags, but operatives will be driving LCC Highways vehicles.

Unless they've bought an ex council vehicle at the auction (it's been known)

Unless they've bought an ex council vehicle at the auction (it's been known) i worked for murphy's and we stripped most of the flags round the town hall, afore replacing them after laying yeb cables...we never wore any id or drove council transport....that is why they were put back insitu,as good as they were put down in1850 odd.....but yes ...flags are worth a fortune, not just in the south, but in any stone yard throughout the civilised world.
