I know the bus you mean Leeds 280, It was kept at Bramley untill recently. I've seen pics of it's recent migration down south (pity). The last time i saw it was one Sunday afternoon on Regent st after a few beers too many in the New Roscoe!!

TramsA bit off the topic thread but apparently trams use to run down richardshaw lane and turn a tight left up stanningley road. I was in the sandwich shop just on the junction a while back and a person in their was speaking about a time when 'he was a lad' that a tram de-railed round the bend and hit the row of shops that are now there. Anyone know if this is true?

I don't know about the Richardshaw tram crash-But there was one @ Oakwood when the tramcar ran all the way from Roundhay park gates with no one onboard & came to grief on the bend near the Oakwood clock.

This is not really a 'secret Leeds' more of a trivia Leeds. The Albion pub on Armley road has a claim to fame in the railway world. Despite it been located next to the railway It's claim to fame is more obscure. In The early 80's it was considered a perfect example of a traditional English pub & was carefully reconstructed in exact replica detail as a modeller's card kit that sits on many a train set in all it's miniature glory. I've looked high & low for a picture of it & i'd love to know if anyone has the model itself.

Hi Phil_d,it was great to see all the pictures on your flickr sight. I grew up right next to the railway lines in Allerton Bywater by King Edward Avenue and played on the lines as kids. As you know it is now just a walkway, but if you go as far as the outcrop there are remains of all the locomotive sheds and tracks.By the way, I have always wanted to see pictures of inside of the Public baths and Library on York Road as I am obsessed with Burmantofts tiles so I had a double suprise by looking at your photos. Do you have any other pictures of the interior? I would love to see them.

i hope the model of the albion features a 'home of the beastie burger' banner. it's welcomed me to leeds since i was but a bairn...i have some pictures from inside the york road library somewhere. as interesting as the burmantoft tiles were the government information posters on the noticeboards explaining the community charge.
