I'll add this link for csnosi because as a driver these days i know he frowns upon engines been driven hard putting the traction motors through some hammer. The new line was another great engineering feat with some tremendous earthworks & tunnels. It took a staggering 14 years to build Is this loco a Deltic? If so I used to help build the radiators for these things when I was an apprentice at Marston Radiators on Armley Rd.The radiators were huge .About 6ft highx6ft wide! tHIS WOULD BE ABOUT 1958! How time flies.

Looking at that pic makes me think it's NOT a Deltic. As a kid I did a bit of train spotting (only for a short time I hasten to add). From what I remember the Deltic class only had two windows at the front and back of the engine. That one appears to have three. Possible a 47 class of engine.

Talking of the Gildersome tunnel.The nearby Dean beck recently got diverted into the cutting. I think local kids had been busy with the spades trying to flood the tunnel.They made a good job of it.
