In the H&T on Dec 28,Landlord spot on but had to keep asking for a top up.Also went in Whitelocks, very busy but the range of ales was poor. If the landlord was 'spot on' surely you wouldn't have to keep asking him for a top - up? (boom boom)
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

My local is an Old Mill Brewery House. Used to be a vicarage I think.Been disappointed on my last few visits to the H&T with the lack of choice, indded last time it was Tetley's or nowt so we turned straight round. Was in Whitelocks last week and other than the regular OP and the guest Abbot I can't remember what else was on it was so memorable Also I hope its just a blip with "THE PARTY" being planned there but was in the Vic the week before and they didn't have much choice either. I think one of the 3 guests beers also went off while we were there and no sign of anyone likely to put the unused pumps on

I can recommend The Scarbrough for ale , it'susuallu good. gets very crowded now though, although the old non smoking bit is less so.I am a life member of CAMRA and usally pop in here for a pint or three when I have time. I work on York Place so it is not far away

Go out of Leeds past Dark Arches under the railway bridge, past The hilton Hotel and over the bridge. The grove is on your right hand side. It used to be hidden away but is now visible surrounded by new office buildings.A little gem with the old layout of lots of little rooms and a room devoted to live music. A must visit for real ale lovers.

This might really belong on the dialect thread, but I was mentioningto someone the other day that no one asks for "A pint of mixed" nowadays ,and most bar staff would give you a "Yer what?" if you did. I remember the old nicknames for mixed beers:a pint of mixed : bitter & mildgrandmother: old & mildmother in law: old & bitter!anyone remember any more?
