Hey - Ginnels are pretty much a secret as far as outsiders go!Near us we had one that simply linked two estate roads, Bancroft Drive and another Bancroft.Further away there was one that ran from oakwood Lane all the way down to Wetherby Road which I hink had to stay as it was a footpath prior to development of the area for housing.Any more secret snickets?let us know coz they may be handy if any of us are being chased by the cops!

I love the ones that parallel the Otley Road from near the centre to the Ring Road. Some are well known, but others are definitely secret! From the Ring Road they go on to the Lake District. 73 miles in all as a footpath I'm told. There are some really overgrown ones around in Hyde Park, Wortley and East End Park. This time of year is good for tracking them down due to no vegetation.

Used to be one that went from Thornhill Road area following side of railway tracks for quite a distance. Only one short section is still accessible now. Other parts of it are still there but fenced off

One I lament the end of is down Copley hill, that stretches towards the old rec, (new wortley Recreation grounds). Ever since Skinner the scrapman took over the old marshalling yards down there the whole area has become a filthy tipping ground and the path, litteraly, sliced in two. Even been gated off now at the top of the old stone steps!

Not so much a ginnel, so i may be going off subject, but has anyone seen the old pedestrian bridge that goes over the roads as you approach armley gyratory coming from town as you head to the roundabout? I saw it from the van at work, so i dont know if its blocked off at the entrances, but the middle section is missing. I dont know how long this has been like this but could be dangerous if a little intoxicated one night!

Some ghreat ones in Rothwell. The 1970's Wimpey estate off Wood Lane is linked by a few tot he Wood Lane council estate, there is a good long one between Haigh Road and Araham Hill, one connecting The Oval to Royds Lane, one whioch follows an old road "Mill Pit Lane" from the back of Haigh Terrace to Pontefract Road near the Mannhaim Auctions.
Ravioli, ravioli followed by ravioli. I happen to like ravioli.

There was a ginnel which ran from Queenswood Drive/Kirkstall Lane junction down to Headingley station, the entrance is still there.I tried to use it a couple of years ago as a short cut to the stationonly to find it had been blocked off.I think its closure had something to do with the new houses being built adjacent to the station. It may have since re-opened.

if it's the one that comes out near the zebra then I have used it from the station several times over regular intervals for the last 2-3 years

Yes, pretty sure that one is still open. There was some work on fences and walls a little while ago so maybe it was shut then.
