Duck and Drake

Had a distant relative running it in the 1880s,part of the same family that ran the Palace,the Castelows.Though not directly related to them i had a member of my family marry into them.How strange then i frequent both pubs,though not as often as i like.

Went on a city centre pub crawl the other week and the best pint bar far was in The Duck and Drake.

Better late than never, remember Duck & Drake from the late fifties when I first started imbibing (neverstopped since), But have seen Phill d in Markington and Harrogate lately, is that Buck stood with him?

I think this is a picture of the buildings at the back of the pub, took it a while ago as the building does look old! Especially next to the modern flats behind it.

Yes those are the buildings I on about.Note the proximity of the tall chimney to the central door of the smaller building.That would indicate the locaction of the blackgmith/farriers stove.The larger building,I assume,would be the overnight stables.Top stuff.
