Filming Locations

Post by locationscout »

Hi

First time post. I am a location scout based in Leeds. I am working on a film that we shooting in the area set in the 60's and 70's and I was hoping I might get some tips and suggestions from you all. Firstly anything that gives the period would be great. Fish and chip shops, hairdressers, launderettes etc we would look at. I have trawled the working mens clubs but if anyone has a great suggestion I am open to it. Pubs wise I have tried the Garden gate and Cardigan arms but I imagine there are more.

My other problem is period houses. Plastic windows are a real pain for us although you can cover them to a certain extent. we like the look of the back to backs in Armley and the Harolds in Burley but again any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

The Adelphi Pub is possibly the finest example of the Old Style Pub, rather than the Garden Gate and as for older properties maybe some Beeston houses might fit the bill.
Good Luck

Holbeck Working Mens Club, now known as The Holbeck is a great example of a WMC, it is still going and is the oldest surviving WMC in the UK. It would make a great location for filming in the 70's style, (the décor wouls suit perfectly). The members are very friendly and I am sure they would welcome you.
