Crossgates cemetery

Post by mi6spook »

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there was a cemetery/graveyard at the end of Poole Square in Crossgates?
My friend has found some head stones in her back garden!

Any chance of a photo of them, especially if they bear any inscription.

Unable to find any closed graveyards in the area. Closest graveyard is Killingbeck.
I suppose that it would be feasible for there to be graves at the old Seacroft Infectious Hospital, not that I can locate any record.
As Liits states a name and details would probably help locate its origin.
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

I hope there is more to come on this intriguing thread. As the area had coal workings I wonder (very tentatively) if they may be anything to do with coal works?

There are partial fragments of grave stones. On her deeds it says there was a cemetery at the back of her house.

I wonder mi6spook if you (or anyone else) have any further information?
