Was it not the old DD advert on TV in the 70s when the ruddy faced landlord used to say. " There's a terrific draught in here"? Or am I mistaken . Could it have been Watneys export pale ale or even Stones bitter. Its these type of puzzling questions that keep me up all night.

Sorry Francof you may be correct however I don't recall the advert but then was too young to drink in the 70s anyway. What I do know is that given the pretty limited choice of draught beers in the 70/80s, Double Diamond may have had a market but its only market now is in bars where the only other choice is electric and usually super chilled. I think I have only had two pints of the stuff and would prefer John Smith's which I loathe.

Cheers Mick. Thank you. The mystery is finally laid to rest. So it was Heineken. Isn't it amazing the tricks time plays on the mind? For some reason I always associate it with an old Benny Hill sketch where he plays a landlord stood behind the bar. A gust of wind blows open the pub door lifting up the mini skirt of a leggy "dollybird". Benny chuckles, looks at an leering Bob Todd and says "there a terrific draught in here".

Hi hyperion.

I detect a clear irritation in your post that the thread had gone off-topic. As I was the one that did that in my post on March 16th I apologise for having done so. My post was though only meant to add a bit of humour and in my defence it was a photo showing two floodlight diamonds that was in those you had taken that were brought up through the link in your post on Mon Mar 16, 2015 6:40 pm that made me think of the DD connection.

There is a brief report about the lights on pages 19/20 of the Dalesman magazine April 2015. In that it states the "four 183-foot (56m) floodlights...have been created with a uniquely designed head frame - with a very special Yorkshire design. Each has been shaped to resemble the Yorkshire White Rose".

The problem with stadia floodlights is that they don't only turn them on when there's an event / match.
Arsenal's Emirates Stadium is regularly lit up, as is Wembley. Although they don't have lights above the roof-line of the stadium, the light pollution is phenomenal - especially as Wembley has the arch above it.
I belong to the Baker Street Irregular Astronomers and our monthly meetings in Regents Park are always blighted by the "BT Tower nebula" but often Wembley and the Emirates too.
I wonder why, if there's no match, they need to have the lights on and why they can't do whatever they're doing during the day?
