Re: Yorkshire Evening Post
I only ever used to buy a paper to read at lunch times when I was working (Mirror not the YEP) other wise everything I need to know was on the Tinternet.

Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

I think they need to be honest with themselves, its a morning paper.Leodian wrote:Following the recent revamp of the YEP I have been expecting the cover price to be raised and it has done so today (March 2 2015) being raised from 65p to 68p for non-subscribers (they pay 52p, for now!). OK, it only 18p a week more but I wonder if it is at a price that irregular buyers may feel it's even less not worth buying it and so use the online site for information.
As the Yorkshire Post is supposed to be a morning paper then why not call the YEP the Leeds Morning Post
Now clearly they wish to maintain sales across Yorkshire so they wont do that so therefore why not go back to makins it an evening edition with that days news rather than just having the previous days news printed early in the morning of the day of publication, otherwise it fits no purpose as the Yorkshire Post does and always has done that, all though to a much greater depth.

'Contrary to popular belief, according to Yorkshire Evening Post, we are already closed. Let us assure you that we will be open until Saturday the 11th of April. We hope you can make the awesome closing down party. We predict it will be so awesome that people will talk about it for years to come and even over shadow lesser events in history like the discovery of electricity or sliced bread.'

Re: Yorkshire Evening Post
I noticed in the on-line edition that the Dog & Gun is being turned into a Convenience Store. They seem to think that the pub dates back to 1910 although in another recent article, they say that it has been a public house since the 18th century.
They really are getting bad, I'm wondering how long it will be before the phrase "back in the day" appears in the text of their "reports".

Page 33 today's YEP has an article on the opening by King George V of the civic hall in 1933. A picture related to the article and titled "Grand opening:Leeds civic hall at its opening in 1933" does indeed shows the king and Queen in Leeds in a carriage, however, they are on the Headrow and the building pictured is the old Leeds Permernant building.
Oh dear, I suppose it's easy to mix them up as they do look so similar................l not!

Re: Yorkshire Evening Post
I do despair for the YEP
. I wonder just how carefully its text is checked for errors. On page 3 of the YEP today (March 28 2015) there is a short item headed 'CLOCKS GO BACK THIS WEEKEND'. The 'BACK' immediately caught my attention as I felt certain that clocks go forward. In the text after the heading it however stated "CLOCKS: Tomorrow morning the clocks in the UK go forward by one hour...". The YEP at least got it correct in that!
