Work going on at what was the casino at Harrogate Road/Street Lane

That's a very interesting photo hyperion. Though I have seen the area a number of times I've never spotted that there are differing style buildings so it made me look at some photos that I took on May 30 2014. This one shows as yours does that the style of the building with Danny's Place is very different from that of the rest of the building (the old cinema?). It also does not obviously show that the building to the right is separate from that having Danny's Place.

It still amazes me that not only is William Hills is still currently open but so is the dentist on the Street Lane frontage nearest to Harrogate Road!

Hi Leo,Uncle mick, firstly uncle mick the sub station is to the right of danny's . The danny's building is mainly a stairwell with an entrance to a night club (logo can still be seen painted on the wall )a toilet block and above that a store room. Leo the complex is made up three buildings,the corner house ,the danny building ,and an extension part Wm Hill ground floor and the casino cash office upstairs.As seen in google image.

A dim and distant memory - wasn't there a "young peoples club" round the side/back of this building in the 1960s called the Skeleton Key? I seem to remember playing gigs there in my (much) younger days.

I used to be a member of the casino, and quite ofter Mr Saville would be there, but never took part in any of the games.
In hindsight, the casino was near both the 'young peoples club' and his flat in Roundhay Park,
