Well as I am already booked into a hotel for the 17th I obviously want that date.We need to book it sharpish before something else so i propose that I go down there and book the room tomorrow and pay .If people then want to give me cash on the day to help pay they can do.We can always have another party on a later date for peopel who can't make this one.Duncan,do you want to make this the official launch for the new SL site and invite press?I was thinking i might have haggle room on the price if we can promise press mentions for the revamped pub<G>.

Yes please feel free to go ahead with that Steve, seems like an ideal spot for the party. Give me a shout on email and I'll stick in a contribution for the deposit. I've always liked the Adelphi - keen to see what they've done with the place! Thanks for sorting it out folks

I went to the Adelphi and discussed booking the room with one of the bar staff. The upstairs room hold up to 90 people and as reported is £250The downstairs bar is £10 per hour and already booked I have provisionally booked us into upstairs.I laid on heavily the fact that we are choosing the pub as an historic site, that like SL it has been revamped (actually just the upstairs) and tried to get £50 knocked off on the grounds that it will get promotion and possible press interest on the night plus can be mentioned in press release relating to SLI need to hear from the manager though If we don't get a discount will still confirm.I also had a long chat with a guy called Brian at the bar about the old ballroom above Miss Selfridge's in Leeds which is apparently still intact but which he couldn't get access to to photograph.I recommended the site of course and suggested he join and tell us about it among other stuff he has looked at and pictured

I heard back from the pub today. They agreed to reduce the price by £50 to £200 so I went in and booked it.We have the upstairs function room from 6-11 on 17th October. The room holds up to 90 people so plenty of room for as many SL people to attend<G>.Duncan,if you are doing a press release for this,i would suggest mentioning that it is taking place in one of Leeds most historic pubs which has just undergone refurbishment of the upstairsThere is parking nearby as well
