I occasionally look at the Victoria Gate webcam and have copied this, which is a reduced copy of the view that is currently on display dated/timed 21/07/14 18:00.What struck me about the view is the lack of any buses and cars at 18:00. Where were they all? PS. This is the link to the webcam:- http://hammerson.reachtimelapse.co.uk/v ... H7llr.dpuf

As you rightly say Leodian its difficult to believe that this was taken in a weekday peak period. While there are, of course, no longer any stops by the hoardings on the upward side of Eastgate the lack of a single vehicle of any operator even in transit on either carriageway is quite simply uncanny, ghostly even !!
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

It would be nice to think they could leave some exposed as a feature but sadly I think it would be impractical. I wonder if the beck there could be turned into a visitor attraction? I suppose not, but I saw a programme recently where at least some of Brighton's sewers are such an attraction and very popular.Seeing the piles of stones and bricks that are accumulating resulting from the demolition work going on at the Victoria Gate site I wonder what use they will be put to, or will they simply be dumped as land fill?

That could be fun too .I was thinking more along the lines of the exposed section of the beck in the City West "Office Park" near Gelderd Road though -- the beck only pops up for a couple of hundred yards and has nicely landscaped banks that can be used as a picknick site during the hot weather.
