Hi all. I hardly ever post on here, as I am more of a lurker. I regularly read the forums but have often noticed that it's slow to see new content. On the flipside of that, being a lurker and not actively posting is part of that problem, but when so many are so knowledgeable, it's difficult to see where I can contribute at times. I am looking forward to the new site though and although it is probably a bit late for suggestions, I was wondering how admin would feel about having a news page on the site, with brief local news stories. My thinking is that the forums could use tags and the articles could also be tagged. Readers could then click into them and be taken through to a list of forum threads with the same tags attached?

Hi Jay, one of the good and bad things about web development is that it's never too late to suggest a new feature A news section would be relatively straightforward to add, but running and administering it would take some thought. Let me stew on this for a bit - I'll keep it in mind for future development ideas!

I work in IT myself, so have a bit of an idea what you mean, although I'm not a web design type I wasn't thinking anything too substantial, with reports needing to be written etc. More just "BBC Report on Trolleybus" with a link to their article accompanied by one paragraph of description and either a link to search for threads tagged with Trolleybus (or Follybus ) or perhaps you click on the picture and that takes you to the search results. Whichever works best really.

If someone wants to curate a news section for us though I'd be agreeable to palming off responsibility on them

I'm assuming that when the new site officially goes live, the secretleeds.com and .co.uk addresses will point to the new site?I only ask because at present I can access the site at work at lunch or break ,but on trying the link to the new preview it was blocked by our security wall.
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

Yes Steve, the new site will be accessible via the current addresses when it goes live, that other address that starts with 's10-preview...' is just that, a preview site address for testing purposes.
