The railway on the east of Leeds Station passes very close to the Third White Cloth Hall (TWCH) on Crown Street and very recently from a train I noticed there was what seemed to be a bell in the cupola of the TWCH. I had no recollection of ever noticing the bell before so while I was in the centre of Leeds today I went to have a closer look. It was though very hard from street level to take a photo that showed the bell (the position of the Sun also did not help in taking photos!). This (reduced) photo is the best I got in which the bell can be made out (just!). I will though next post a version of the photo that I have modified using a photo manipulation system that a bit better shows the bell.I've looked at several photos of the TWCH in the Leodis website but none seem to show the bell or it is very hard to see. I've not been able to find much out about the bell other than this one (which may or may not be the first) was installed in 1991 according to the information brought up through this link http://www.riponandleedsbells.org.uk/le ... _hall.htmI have found that the TWCH was built in 1775-76 and the cupola (with or without a bell) was installed in 1786 having come from the Second White Cloth Hall (which was on Meadow Lane).
