I agree that the thng which makes this site is the quality of the content and that the contributors care about "our city". It would be nice if there were more activity but I think it's better to have a little less and have good information and thoughtful comentary rather than a lot of nothing much. Agreed

This might not meet with approval from members but what do you think about calling the site Secret Leeds 1.After all it was the first site and it does make a point that both sites are different sites. Just a thought

I'm another long time lurker! While the site is quite cumbersome and not the busiest of sites, it is still a really useful and informative place, I would say much more so than the Facebook group that operates. I have learnt some really interesting information from this site, not just on leeds but on wider subjects which I wouldn't have got from the Facebook group, this is particularly from the threads about mining in leeds. With regards to lurking and not posting some of the threads I have nothing to contribute to, I just like reading them as I have no knowledge of the subject to bring to the thread! Sometimes threads just have some quite unpleasant tones in them, ones like the guess the location threads, where posters can be really quite rude to people and this really is off putting. I really do like this website and think it is a fantastic resource, albeit one than can of course be improved in ways. I do think it would be a real shame were it to loose the tone of the site as I think what makes it different is that the posters are knowledgeable and interested and informative, I like the factually element of this website and it would be a shame if this was lost.

Welcome, best egg. Great nickname! tilly wrote: This might not meet with approval from members but what do you think about calling the site Secret Leeds 1.After all it was the first site and it does make a point that both sites are different sites. Just a thought Hi tillyWell, it's a valid suggestion and worthy of consideration. This is the original Secret Leeds as you say. If I may make an analogy with the world of golf, The Open is the original Open, the British one. So it's referred to as The Open, and everyone knows which one they mean. All the others are distinguished by country, American Open, Australian Open etc. because [ahem] they are mere imitations. So based upon that I would say stick to Secret Leeds and let the imitations qualify their status 2/3 whatever.

First was never required even when Elizabeth Windsor became second. King John being a prime example. Never John the first and never will be.

Yes wlcome Best egg, or maybe not so much welcome but thnks for contributing.I havent been quite able to fathom why things can get a little unpleasant, after all its a prety close knit group of contributors who know each other online so to speak.I think its been touched on before by myself and others that one of the drawbacks of online discussion is that one is unable to hear the tone of a voice or a visual mannerism to accompany a post.We depend on these in face to face , and to a degree verbal coomunications by phone, to determine in what manner a statement is made.Because of this its seems easier to read something into post/message which may not actually be there.I suppose the answer is to try and take a virtual step back before replying to what appears to be an unpleasant or inflammatory post, and i include myself in that as well

Well said cosnie I think people who post should not expect every thing they say is right.when it comes to the running of the site people have different ideas. By all means discuss your ideas but dont take your ball home if any one does not agree with them has you say things can be miss interpreted on all manner of subjects. If any member thinks someone is having a go at them give the poster a chance to explain i must say this does not happen very often on here and if it does then lets settle things like grown ups or in my case old git.
