I will just point out that those so called 'gold plated' pensions are absolutely nothing of the sort, he average Public servant pension is £6500. For this they will pay same as you do in the private sector, and this is limited for most to a maximum of half pay, whereas the private sector can do rather better than that.I have 32 years in, its worth £7600 - gold plated my backside, I wish my backside were gold plated. Come and work in a prison face to face with the little dears, and tell me that my pension is gold plated.But why let facts get in the way of a good Daily Telegraph story, why the heck do you ever believe this rubbish about Public Servants when its printed in right wing media?

Oh, and just for giggles and other stuff, that pension is costing me just under £400 a month - taxpayer - subsidised really?I think I'm probably subsidising you, and helping keep the streets safe for you by keeping them gainfully employed whilst in the inside of the wire.BTW, don't think the job is secure either, there were almost 40 of my grade two years ago, austerity means that there are 14 left, and that's largely because of the fall out from the wonderful banking sector - the one that was supposed to replace all those dirty metal bashing manufacturing jobs.Just think first before posting such [edited for content] about public servantsFor your information, the cost of the PRIVATE, banking crisis to date is £1200 billion, that came from the taxpayer, had it been pits, cars, steel or docks, that had gone down, do you really think that we would have supported them to the same extent? The answer of course is not, and that's why those industries have largely gone - seems the city boys can have it both ways doesn't it?

I can confirm it was a fire drill. I work there and lovell park is the only area that is large enough to accommodate the 3000+ staff that work there and it usually ends up bringing that end of Leeds to a standstill. On this occasion there was a young lady with pushchair and kids sat in the park on the grass and refused to move with all the hundreds of staff all arpund her. She was still there after we had gone! She was not going to let us spoil the sun!

Hi Blakey. Yes you're right, Leeds Perm became Halfax.Leeds & Holbeck always wanted to be Leeds but Leeds was Halifax, so to speak.Then Halifax>BofScotland>Lloyds and so the 'Leeds' name was a bit historic & presumably sold to Leeds & Holbeck, now Leeds and still a Building Soc last time I looked.
